In 1954, Nellie, Daisy and Lou are sent to an institution for delinquent girls on an isolated island. Under the watch of the school’s matron, the three push back against the strict system around them and draw courage from their bond. But when the matron works to separate them, their friendship is tested against the forces determined to control them.
