Overview
In Algiers in 1938, Meursault is a quiet, unassuming French employee in his early thirties who moves through life with a detached calm. After attending his mother’s funeral without shedding a tear, he returns almost immediately to his familiar routine and begins a casual affair with Marie, a colleague from work. But his ordinary days in 1930s Algeria are unsettled by a fateful encounter on a beach.
