In 1955, young photographer Dennis Stock is given an assignment for LIFE Magazine: take pictures of James Dean, a rising Hollywood actor on the verge of wider fame. As Stock follows Dean with his camera, the job becomes more than a routine shoot. A close bond develops between the photographer and his subject, shaping a portrait of an artist at a defining moment in his career.
