Chi-Raq reimagines Aristophanes’ ancient Greek play Lysistrata in a present-day Chicago marked by gang violence. Set against the tensions of that backdrop, the film brings the classic work into a modern urban context, using the structure of the original play to frame a story rooted in contemporary conflict and the realities of violence in the city.
